The Riverside Bookshop is a proudly independent bookshop established in 1987. We stock a mix of new releases and your favourite fiction, non-fiction, classics, poetry, and children’s titles. We also offer a broad and fun selection of cards, gift wrap, and soft toys.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the shop accessible?
The ground floor of the shop is accessible for wheelchair users, but our first floor is unfortunately not accessible.
The entrance to the shop is level and accessible for wheelchair users. We normally have the doors open, but if they are shut and you need us to open them for you, we have a bell to ring on the left of the door.
The ground floor, where we keep children’s books, general fiction and new titles, is wheelchair accessible. There is one large table and two smaller tables that we can move out of the way if needed.
Up one flight of stairs (8 steps) we have our London section, including maps and a variety of guides and non-fiction books about the city.
The first floor, where we keep most non-fiction, travel, crime, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and romance, is up two flights of stairs, each with 8 steps. We can help if you would like books from upstairs – we can bring books down or take photos of the shelves for you to look through. Do feel free to ask us at any point if you would like assistance.
You can always call or email if you have any other questions about accessibility!
How can I order a book?
There are three ways to contact us to enquire about a book. You can email at info@riversidebookshop.co.uk, call 020 7378 1824 or come into the shop and we can look up the book for you. If it is available with our supplier, we can order it and it should arrive at the shop within a day or two (although we cannot 100% guarantee it). You will get a text or email to let you know when it has arrived. You can pay for it on the phone or in person.
If you would like a book delivered to your home, you can use bookshop.org, an online platform that supports local indie bookshops. We get a commission every time you make a purchase on the website via our shop page.
Can I come in with my dog?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome!
How can I contact you to stock a book?
To ask us if we can stock a book, you can send an email with all the details, including supplier information, to info@riversidebookshop.co.uk and we’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Do you sell anything other than books?
Yes, we sell cards, wrapping paper, gift bags, first and second class stamps, a variety of notebooks, tote bags, soft toys and National Book Tokens.
Do you sell second-hand books?
No, we do not sell second-hand books.
Do you sell audio books?
We do not sell audio books in our shop, but you can buy audio books through our libro.fm shop front, which means we receive a commission on audio books you buy. This is a great way to buy audio books while supporting independent bookshops!
Do you do discounts?
We have a loyalty card we call the Little Red Card. We stamp it after every £10 spent and after 6 stamps you get £5 off your next purchase.
What is your returns policy?
Yes, we do take returns if the book is in perfect condition and returned within 28 days. You will need to bring back the till and card receipts.
Are there any vacancies?
We advertise all job openings on our website as well as on our Instagram page.
