Is this a plum? No, it’s… something else! Laughs in this excellent picture book start from the very first page. Cut outs in the pages reminded me of firm favourites The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Under the Same Sky, but they are used in different way. The result is a very funny story ideal for reading with young children.
Visual and linguistic jokes are all brought together at the end – it’ll make sense when you see it!
Is This a Plum? was created by a father and his eight year old son, and they note that it is “dedicated to the truth”. This is a useful reminder that first impressions can be misleading and that more information can be useful before deciding what is real.
Sure to be chuckled over again and again.
