Superheroes in the Park

by Ian Eagleton and Hayley Wells

I was put on to this gorgeous picture book by the excellent booksellers at Letterbox Library, expert champions of inclusive children’s books.

Dad and Daddy take their little one to the park, but they are too worried about accidents and keep stopping adventurous outdoor play.  But the little one has their own ideas.  They can all play together safely and have fun, splashing in puddles, climbing trees, and being superheroes…

I loved when the new parents apologised for being too concerned: “’We’re sorry,’ Dad whispers.  ‘This is new for us’, says Daddy.  ‘For all of us’”. This light touch with an adoption story is beautifully done.

The warm colours and exciting adventures in the park will make readers of all ages what to get outside and play.  A treat of a book.
